John O. Wylie is a clinical hypnotherapist, author, and the originator of the Unified Absorption Model.
His work began with a practical question: why can people understand exactly what they need to change, sincerely want to change it, and still remain caught in patterns they consciously reject?
More than two decades of clinical practice led him to focus on the processes beneath behavior itself—how attention becomes organized, how competing information loses influence, how patterns become automatic, and how repeated experience becomes part of identity.
The Unified Absorption Model grew from that work. It brings together three core processes—attention, dissociation, and automaticity—while describing emotion as a major force that steers absorption. The model explains hypnosis, anxiety, trauma, addiction, flow, learning, social influence, and lasting change within a single framework.
John lives and practices in Boise, Idaho, where he works with individual clients through Boise Hypnosis. He is the author of the forthcoming book The Absorbed Mind: The Unified Absorption Model—A Framework for Consciousness and Change.
